Who is The Super Hero?

Yesterday I saw "Waiting for Superman". I grew up watching the original TV version and could relate to the comment about that devastating feeling you had when you found out . . . YES there really is NO Superman! So who will save us? A broader question is who will save our Educational System.

We are taking the first basic steps just by the realization our schools have fallen behind other countries. That our students are not being provided with the tools to go forward in the 21st century.

Now, with that said this is not the case with every school in the USA. The key was and has always been in the hand of the teacher. It is their supervisors or administrators that need to continually open their door and see what's going on behind it. Great teachers make GREAT mentors and even though we might not want those teachers out of the classroom we have to find a way to spread their wealth of knowledge.

The real Super Heroes are those educators who make a difference . . . continue to make a difference . . . and hopefully we will one day save ALL schools across this nation.

I totally agree that our students aren't receiving the tools to help make them successful in the 21st century.

Our teachers need to be encouraged to move out from behind closed doors and collaborate with their colleagues. Not only can the master teachers spread their knowledge, but they can always learn something new from their colleagues.

One major way for our educators to make a difference is having that support and encouragement from administrators.
