Continuing with my thoughts on my last post,
Who is The Super Hero, it appears in our world today we have superheroes galore. However, just because you wear a cape or goggles does that make you a superhero? Who were those teachers that were featured in the movie and what makes them "SUPER". It is because they: give their students a voice, engage them by asking questions, listen, learn who they are, establish goals together, participate, connect, build a classroom community
. . . and realize it isn't moving mountains every day, it's small moves that will add up to change and growth.

I saw Waiting for Superman yesterday. I think it is says it all about the state of our education. Davis Guggenheim is a genius.
I heard Michelle Rhee speak last year at Galloway. I think she has a good handle on our American education. It may be a good thing for our educational system that she resigned from the Washington, DC schools. Hopefully, she will move on and do something for our educational system nationwide.
There were so many things that resonated with me in the movie. The one thing that always stands out for me is teaching. I always whine about teachers who stand and deliver. It is as if they are opening the children's heads and pouring the information inside. Davis Guggenheim portrayed that exactly how I visualize it!
I feel that it begins with great teaching! Children are not learning and thinking when the material is poured into their heads. Let's get great teachers into the classrooms.
